No interveiw attire!

I have an interview for the Marriott Hotel. Recently my apartment burned down and I am now in a shelter with no income in time of the interview. Should I still show and explain? Do you think they might take it in consideration?

Call the Red Cross. They often provide clothing vouchers to each member of a family when their residence has burned down. You may need a copy of the report from the Fire Marshall/Fire Department, but they may be able to fax it to them if you can provide them with the fax number and the reason for the request. It is several hundred dollars and you just take the voucher to the store listed on it, shop, and present the voucher to the cashier to cover the not to exceed cost.

See if there is a Dress for Success. They provide interview clothes for free.

Yes, still show up even if you buy a $4 dress from goodwill. GO!

Porscha, do you have a Goodwill store in your area? You might want to speak with them to see if they can help you out. If you have a church, visit with them to see if they can gather clothes in your size.

Speak with the staff at the shelter to see if they can help you in any way.

If all else fails, call the company and speak with the interviewer beforehand and explain to them your circumstance, that way they will be expecting you to show up in causal clothing and you won't have to worry about explaining during or after the interview.

Good luck on your interview!
