Abuse By The Boss
I am a retiree, and so happy I thought that I could finally cut my hours back (I have no pension it's Social Security and me) anticipate my benefit coming in, begin a new chapter... but - my boss has informed me retiring is my problem, there is no provision in the handbook concerning retirees so I'm expected to work more hours if that's what she demands, that it's not her job to take care of me but my job to service them. I remained calm, I have to work and at 63 employers are not jumping to hire me. It's my problem if I don't have the energy of a 21-year old because in the handbook it says... I found out today I am not of value. interestingly enough I began cutting back my hours in December so I could begin benefits in January. When we did that it was all smiles, jokes about retiring, each time I clocked out it was well wishes and enjoy up until yesterday. I am at a loss.

What type of job is this? Retail? Food service? Office work?
An employer isn't obligated by law to cut your hours to accommodate your ability to draw your social security benefits. If you were hired for full time, then they may very well have a business need that requires full-time equivalency.
This obviously should have been discussed at the time you discussed cutting back hours to enjoy your retirement.
Ultimately, you may be better off finding a suitable part time job and leaving your current employer if they are unwilling to work with you.
I was going to list a bunch of jobs that are great for retirees, but I found this article that does it for me.

Just because you have been with a company a long time, don't expect them to show loyalty to you. The needs of the business come first and as far as they are concerned, that means you being where you are supposed to be when you are scheduled to be there.
Find something else and enjoy your retirement!
