Resigned to Retire
I finally resigned myself that my age is keepiing me from being hired. I've always done administrative/executive assistant work. Younger people have the computer skills along with other skills needed. The only thing I really have over them is a greater number of years of experience making me want more pay than they would have to pay them.
Even though I didn't plan on doing so at this time, I am in a situation where I can retire, so that's what I'm going to do. However, if something that I would really love to do came along, I would work again. Oh well, welcome retirement! :-)

Take some college classes. Whatever you need to bring you up to date.

Don't feel bad! I retired 2016Dec. After doing this I ran low on my savings. My checking account got low with more being taken out than going in. I had to eventually give in and start working group again! So long retirement! I decided to change careers. I took my time, not to get desperate to where I have to take just anything..I have experience from hospital administration, warehouse, security guard, graphicreproduction, delivery driver, and shipping and receiving. My rent was catching up to my checking with only one month to go. So, I made up my mind the I would do the security guard position . It took me six month before I found the right company. Not on medicare at sixty five. Fortunately the company I picked had one guy retiring at my age. He said it was his choice. So, I will be continuing on where he left off. In this job age has no limit! It's not a high paying job. But it's better than nothing!

I am in the boat 62 years old lot of interviews and they agree I have the experience. I was offered a job at 1/3 of what I was making and no benefits. I told him right out I could not take the job for that money and no benefits Keep looking.

Happy retirement. I'm in the same boat. Now working part time and making minimum wage after always making big bucks. Except I'm just 60 and can't retire yet. Enjoy your retirement!

You could volunteer. Or take computer classes.

I understand. Happy Retirement.

There are computer courses that you can take. Try your local community college.
