The Greatest Tools to take into an interview
Hi all, I just wanted to take a minute and talk about some things that I have learned over many interviews. Often times an initial interview can be nerve racking and may even seem impossible but hopefully with these few tips you can claim that job/career you're looking for.
Smile and Be Confident Remember, you have made it to this point in the job seeking process. This means that someone saw your application or resume and thought you would be an excellent candidate for this position. That's why they called you back and setup this interview.
Remember to bring a notebook and pen. While this might seem elementary, it is often missed. Arriving with tools to take questions, record answers and information is pivotal in showing that you want something out of this interview even if it is just the interview itself.
Take down the questions you’re asked that you didn’t feel prepared for or information that you might find useful later. These could be things like company slogans, people you should know in the company, and any facts that might help separate you from the next candidate.
- Research the company and its beliefs. When you're preparing for the interview, tailor your verbiage to the companies needs and goals. If you're applying to a supervisory position say words like "Team, Collaboration, Group and Team Work" this will help to reinforce the idea of you being prepared for the roll in the interviewers mind.
You want the interviewer to leave that room thinking that you were born for this position and that if they don’t hire you this position they’re missing out on greatness. You want to be the first person that comes to mind when the interviewer is looking at his interview notes.
- If you don’t succeed at first, learn from the experience and charge ahead. Remember that notebook filled with notes? Take that notebook and go through the questions and prepare answers or investigate the questions you found difficult further. Just because you didn’t get this one position doesn’t mean you’re un-employable, you can learn and improve your interview skills and improve in areas that are possibly lacking.
Thanks for the advice
