Never too late to start over again

So many cultures around the world revier their older generations. They ask for answers that only can come from age and experience. They are a valued member of society. In America it is just the opposite. In fact, we have to laws in place to protect those individuals over 40. Experience is not valued and respected. "Your just to old to work here".

I'm old enough to remember the mantra "respect your elders". I don't believe that you deserve respect but I do believe that you should be able to earn it. The problem is that American values have morphed into physical beauty rather than character and experience. Age brings wisdom they say. Unfortunately many making the hiring decisions aren't old enough to be that wise.

Hi Jerry, I couldn't agree more that there is SO much to be learned from those that have come before us. It doesn't mean that they aren't up to date on today's new technologies and information. It means in many cases that they have lived through the times when it didn't exist and adapted as it came into their lives. Older generations are a wealth of knowledge and should be valued and treated as such. Thanks for posting Jerry! Come back soon ; )
