Failing a drug test from taking over the counter cold meds.

Hi everyone! I recently did a drug test 2 days ago. The night before I took a half of cup of Nyquil and the next day before the interview I took 2 sinus tablets not knowing that right after the interview I would be drug tested. But I wasn't nervous... I ended up telling one of my friends about me taking the colds meds and they told me that it could possibly cause to fail my drug test. Can someone tell me if that's true? Should I be worried?

This is technically true but most job ask for Dr notes or an explanation on why your test came back positive so if I were you I would be up front with the company and let them know that you took cold medicine

If you showed positive for drugs the medical review officer should call and ask you what the drugs were and if you have e a prescription for them, the pharmacy, and the refill number for verification

It is possible, but don't fear because drug test can be sent to labs for confirmation. Relax,

You should have taken the meds with you . A gfs break down will tell them the difference but they're expensive and most companies don't want to spend the money. I'm guessing it showed up as an amphetamine. Always take any otc drug or supplement with you.

It has been a long time, but I thought the drug test asks you what prescription and over the counter drugs you are taking, so they can filter those results out.

I tested positive for a pain med I was prescribed (tylonol 3) after being off work for knee surgery. The company sent me for a random while I was home, and didn't inform me until I was back on the road. Because I didn't have the bottle with me, I was fired on the spot, and sent home. I spent almost $400 on the compliance test , which was a big waste of money since no trucking company will hire anyone for 3 years after a positive. Anyone else have a problem like this?
