Frustrated
I'm 61 yrs old and I'm looking for a part time Receptionist position. I re did my resume so it looked like I'm not so overqualified, but I'm not getting any response.

There is a great job at all hospitals for each floor.. Unit Secretary. You would qualify for that and they tend to value the maturity of older workers. I personally would take a medical terminology course because you take off Drs. Orders. Hospitals are easy.

Hi Beautiful.. I used Top resume recently..and I was very happy with the outcome of my resume..check them out...they turned my 3pg resume into 1 without dismissing the qualifications I wanted to highlight..you have to check them out..so happy with my experience.. Tina worked with me..
I turned 35yrs young yesterday..and I have the same issue.. I'm yet to get a choosen position..but i'm happy I atleast of a great resume to start new with..topresume gives you a free consultant too..isn't that awesome!? so you can have and idea how they can help you personally..as they review your resume...and tell you how they can make it better and more powerful..using your own skills..its about how we highlight them..rather than having too many qualifications.. Good luck...

I understand what you mean it's like once you get past the age of 60 or even 55 de same thing supposed to hire you no more but we do a better job that we do just because we not all of us not into computers that's not fair cuz I've been trying to find a job in a hotel or telecommunications and it's hard

Chin up and hang in there, JoAnn. The present jobs market is a tough one. I'm 54 , four weeks away from earning my Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, 3.9688 gpa, 60% service connected US Veteran, and I receive rejection after rejection on USAJobs.gov. Remain positive and each time you view you glass, it's never half empty but always half full. If we add in all of the great things about us that others don't see, our glass is overflowing :) I'm sure your new job is near and will come when you least expect it. Randy

I no the feeling I'm looking for work myself and not getting no job keep the faith Crystal

Jo Ann Dear:
You are attractive and well-kept, so appearance shouldn't hamper you. But whatever you do, don't bring your age up during the job search and interview processes. You culled your resume, cutting your history off at 10 years, yes? However, the job search process is a job on itself, and requires building a job market presence; and this takes time. And don't let one prospective employer be the be-all and end-all of your job search. So plug away, and plug away good!

Dont give up the LORD will see u through

Maybe that's not God's Will for you. Get creative, think out of the box. Stay open to a wider variety of job choices. Personally I hate offices. Maybe a flower shop. They teach you. What do you live to do?

You may want to try concerig work. It's the same as being a receptionist. You an do it in these luxury highrise luxury hotels and as well as hospitals. Check it out.
Hello, Jo Ann, I am 59 and I know that feeling! I don't know what you did to specifically re-do your resume, but I might suggest that in addition to what you did to reduce your 'overqualified' appearance, that you try to paint yourself as positively as possible - if you haven't done so already. Best wishes in your quest and may God bless your steps.
