To old to work, excuse me?

I moved my entire family from New York to ATL to start a new life but things aren’t going so well. I’ve started my online business but of course it will take time. What i didn’t know was that if you move, hold on to your old license for verification of driving history. Now because my license is only now 5 months old, I can’t get a job driving anything, Uber, Lyft and believe it or not, Dominoes pizza. I’ve been putting out my resume but it was brought to my attention that it might be my age as to the reason why I’m being over looked. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi Carla Alexander - congrats on your move. That's a huge step, and there's no surprise that there are a few bumps in the road! That's okay, you can't always plan for everything.

As for your driving history, you should still be able to get a driving abstract from the DMV in NY. As a former New Yorker, I know that you can get those online. I hope that helps solve your driving history verification problem.

As for the age being a reason for being overlooked for positions - I don't think that is the case for the driving services. However, you aren't the first person to mention that your age may play into a factor. Check out this conversation for some tips on overcoming ageism in the job search.

I hope that this all helps you! Don't forget - the Jobcase community is here for you!
