Hello, I have been out of work since June of last year 2017. I started working for TPG Hospitality group at the Holiday Inn in 1997. We became a Hilton in 2007. I was a Banquet Manager there for what would have been almost 20 years in September of 2017. Unfortunately TPG went with a private company PDR, LLC to handle all the Food, beverage, and catering for them. It seemed that I had a good working relationship with them until about a year and a half later when they called me into the office to tell me I no longer would be employed by them due to financial reasons. I was heart broken, my whole life, 20 years of which I put my heart and soul into had come to an end in less than 15 minutes. They did not even give me an option to do something else. They said they were going to handle my job themselves and eliminate my salary. As you can imagine I was devastated. I understand that Rhode Island is an at will state, but after 20 years of working there, I was made to feel worthless. Since then they hired some one in January of this year, what happened to financial reasons? I just wanted to let you know and others that no matter how hard you work for a company and everything you do for them just doesn't matter sometimes. Sorry if this is not a motivating story.
