Apply for housing. Or find a job that has a chain of franchises and then request a transfer. Your then able to apply for a grant thru your company to help pay for your place you choose to live. This is helpful information not everyone knows about it.

Contact the Unemployment Office, Workforce Office or Federal, State, County Employment Offices. Also search to see what their employment regulations and standards are according to the "Guidelines". Expand your adventure and knowledge, knowledge is power and growth is sometimes hard work but it's worth it. Happy hunting it will work if you work it to the benefit of the company and then the company will benefit you.

To each his or her own! Have u ever read the book? Probably not. The book gives great encouragement to ppl in her situation, so it might be just what she needs to give her hope, peace, and motivation. I've been where she is decades ago. Have u been in her situation ever with TWO kids? If u haven't , how do u know if this can help her or not? And if reading the book or getting a hold of it right away will or won't give her just what she needs right NOW?!!!! U don't.... So paleeeeeze just give your advice and allow me to give mines without your demeaning what I advise OK? I'm not saying what worked for me will work for everyone else, however, if it worked for me and I'm a PRIME example of what she is currently going through ( was homeless in 2000, lived in a shelter for one year with TWO kids whom were 5 and 10, didn't have a job at first and then obtained employment, went through some SERIOUS hard times and now my girls 22 and 27; the 26 year old is now a teacher WITH a master's degree and my 22 year old has a job PLUS her own small business, ànd I achieved my masters degree... OH, did I mention I was a single parent? Plus plus plus neither of my girls live with me). I read books(mainly my bible and anything that kept me motivated and encouraged. I desire to help Quartney and encourage her in ANY way that I can and with genuine heartfelt intentions, just let me advise my way and u do the same your way without belittling how I choose to help if u dont choose to do it same way as I do! I would say your inability to land work in Michigan has a lot to do with the combination of things you mentioned in your posts.

1. Experience: You openly admit that you don't have a lot of experience. This makes it difficult to catch an employers eye. If you are looking for anything other than service industry (restaurant, hotels, etc..) jobs, you just aren't going to stand out from the competition.

2. Location: Being in a different state from the jobs to which you are applying puts you at an immediate disadvantage. Most employers use what is called an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) that uses information contained in your resume or application to filter out those who do not meet the minimum criteria for the job. One of the most basic criteria employers look for first is "Is the candidate local"? If you are applying for retail and service industry jobs, you typically won't be considered until you are a local.

3. Education: Most employers also look for people with, at a minimum, a high school diploma. I see you are in the process of obtaining your GED. Having that will increase your chances of having your resume/application looked at. Keep working on obtaining your GED if you don't yet have it.

Right now you need to find work locally. Have no pride when it comes to what you are willing to do. There are jobs out there that can put money in your pocket. Land a job in CA first, work for a few years and make a budget. Apply what you need toward bills then put the rest aside into a savings to save up for a move. It is going to be super expensive, you will need to secure a place to live before moving, and you will need to find a job. But at least with a nice savings built up you will have a cushion should you decide that you truly do want to move.

U might need low income housing unless u can get section 8 very quick! The list is called affordable rental housing in los Angeles county. The pages are like 15 or more. The list contains several counties/ cities in los Angeles. If u have to go to a shelter, just pick a decent one and they might help u with section 8 or low income housing. Research beyond shelter( if they still exist), get a case manager and they might be able to tell u what shelters they work with to assist clients/ residents with section 8 or low income housing. Stay strong! My two children were 10 and 5 when I went through this during the year of 2000. Then I was in the mist if obtaining a keyboarding certificate at AADAP, Inc located in los Angeles California but the location has changed since then yet I think the new location is still somewhere in LA. Ca, they also assisted me with a paid OJT( on the job training) but that was long ago. However they still might do so. I hope this helps. Luv luv

Reginald, I did help cuz I told her to try to obtain employment out here since she can't just up and move and when she's bi on the job for a while request a transfer but to ensure that the place of employment is in Michigan as well....soooooooooooo how didn't I help? I'm not silly for believing in the ALMIGHTY God who gives me breathe to exist everyday. If u dont believe in him that's on YOU but don't belittle the religious beliefs of another! That's what is SILLY! God does EVERYTHING and He allows much for His own reasoning! If u think u only exist for your own PURPOSE. I feel sad for u. But that's on u! Ms. Morrow, First if you got no family or friends in the new state that you want to be in.... that's going to be tuff. Steps to move. First I left Virginia Beach with NO bills at all. Next I had $2700 in checking....Then I applied for social work and social security staff worker jobs. (My degree is in social work).... I had 5 interviews between paramedic and social worker jobs all in the same week. I drove down with 3 days before any of the interviews. I lived in an extended stay on N. Miami Beach for 3 weeks and my social work job came in first. I never returned to Virginia. Now I wish that you didn't have so much to endure, but children, no place to live or low to no savings could hender you. Take no chances... IF YOU CANT LEAVE....STAY TILL YOU ARE PREPARED!! It gets cold in the north where the Detroit Lions play. And I promise you if your money is shaky it's best to not put the kids at risk. Plan better and wait.... I know you don't want to hear that, but GOD won't save your ass from a quick thinking Social Worker if food, clothing, and shelter is not there for those minor children. Think about what I told you.
