Interview While Pregnant
I originally applied for this office manager job back in January, and they’ve just contacted me for an interview for next week. Thing is, I’m pregnant and starting to show. Any tips on how to manage this? Should I address it, or not mention anything? Not sure what to do, so thanks for any advice!

Go on the interview and tell them, they may be accommodating if your qualified if you don't you will always wonder

Hi Melody, Congratulations. I would tell them because maternity leave can effect the day to day operations of the business [depending on a lot of factors*] be courteous and upfront much like you would want the staff to be back to you and in the future.

Omg I just asked this same question bc i had an interview 3 days ago and didn't reveal my pregnancy but it's clear that I'm pregnant. They didn't say anything so I didn't tell. BUT I GOT THE JOB! SO I too was wondering how long should I wait to say something? Thanks for asking this question Melody!

I would attend the interview and only address the issue if asked.
Sincerely,

Actually I have been told that some of the FMLA requirements do not apply to small employers. When I was pregnant I worked in an office that only had 6 employees and the business would not be able to function without me as I was the only one who could perform that job (lab tech). But I was proactive in helping my boss find someone to cover for me while I was gone. I took 12 weeks off and when I informed my boss I let him know right away that I was going to be gone that long despite his immediate urging to have me return sooner. I would be up front about it. Wouldn't that be a heartbreak to have to face a job termination right after you had a baby.

Hi Melody. I think you should just be honest. The employer will appreciate your honesty and you will know that you've done the right thing even if you don't get the job. It will work out.

Most employers are concerned about insurance coverage and maternity leave first. Who will cover your job while on mat erniry leave.

I think u should address it also they discriminate because of ur condition, most jobs have maternity leave go for it

Be honest exspecially it a job you really are intested in
Melody, I hope you are finding true guidance on what to do. It stands to reason that you are interviewing for a job because you need to earn an income and as you know an interview is not a guarantee of an offer of employment. That said, I am not sure how many jobs you have applied to and how many interviews you have been granted, but I would put your needs before that of any employer first. I am not encouraging dishonesty and I certainly do not feel a pregnancy is something to be ashamed of and therefore hide. I do however know that there are many unknowns early on in any pregnancy: perhaps you will change your mind about returning to work as your pregnancy progresses and decide staying home is best for both you and baby. Again, this decision is so personal and yours alone to make and you should not feel compelled to have all the answers to these major life changes at the time of your interview. I love preparation, but to roll out your plan to ensure and portray to a future employer that you will be some kind of super human being may seem contrived.
