It’s about time!
After a year and a half of delay due to illness, I finally got my real estate license! I am super excited, but super nervous. What if I am not good enough? I have my first appointment next week, how do I prepare so I don’t sound like an amateur?

Look, you had the expertise to pass the exams. If you have a lick of customer service skills and can think outside the box, you'll be just fine. Just "act as if"....With anything else, it takes time to settle into a routine. You are in sales. Even if you are representing the seller, you are selling the homeowner on the idea of trusting you to get their home sold in a timely manner. Show some confidence. Don't be afraid to think outside the box.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words! Are there any books or workshops that would be helpful?

Excited for you Joan. Set realistic expectations and give yourself time to cultivate a solid pipeline of potential home buyers. Stay connected to people, places, and things that will keep you motivated, driven, and focused.

Congrats Joan!! That's a major achievement you managed to accomplish in spite of your health issues. The focus, determination, and resilience you demonstrated to reach this goal speaks volumes to you character and attitude to perservere. I think your going to be Great agent. Best of Luck next week.

Hi Joan: Think of it this way - if you weren't good, you wouldn't have received your real estate license! Go easy on yourself for the first few months on the job. Not everything is going to be perfect, and you're going to learn a few lessons. But remember, it's a learning process. Every real estate agent - even the ones on TV - started where you are right now!
Good Job Joan! I heard a report on NPR the other day about the real estate industry making a comeback. Your getting in at the right time.
