I would recommend applying to the Culinary Institute of America to learn about their Culinary programs and speak with the job placement person there who may be able to connect you with a mentor to get some true experience.

Hi Idalee, are you still enrolled at the institute or did you already graduate? Would you recommend going to school first or getting hands on experience through a job first? Thanks

I graduated the Culinary Institute of America's Baking & Pastry Arts program in 1992. Although I did home-baking all my life with my mother, I had a passion to go to school and learn the art and science behind it all. It was an experience like no other and I am honored to have had the privilege to study and be mentored by all Master Chefs and Pastry Chefs.
