Race verse Experience
Using my Race verse my years of experience
I was recently contacted via email from an Associate Executive Director from Maplewood of Darien. We corresponded through email and so she had to break one of our interview date. After which I asked her if I could meet with her later Monday, September 11 after five if possible. She agreed and we did ,let's just say when she saw me the applicants she had a surprise on her face cause I wasn't what she was expecting. I had deliberately checked white checked for ethnic background so she was expected a white applicant . Today she sent me the your great but we are going with someone else, which is not true the position is still open. We as African-American female /Male now being black balled whether it's corporate America or Healthcare behind the ethnic background that you must check or they do not process your application. Racism is real wake up people wake up.
I have absolutely no doubt that racism exists. HOWEVER, it can be disconcerting if someone is expecting one person and another shows up. The downside to this "experiment" is that you didn't fill the application out honestly so you don't know what would have happened. You very well may have never landed a face to face based simply on your race, but now you don't know that.
By trying to prove something you may have shot yourself in the foot. People who lie on applications aren't taken seriously in the interview.
OR, the woman and the company may be a bunch of racist elitists who never intended to interview a person of color.
