Ghosting at it's best

So I've been sending my resume ALL OVER!primarily looking for stay at home jobs. So I'm approached by 3 separate companies promising me upfront money to create a mini office in my home equipped with laptop and a score of equipment and software. They went so far as to promise in an offer letter from the company $15 an hour to be trained for 2 weeks and a guarantee of $35 an hour once I immediately start working after the 2 wk training. They emailed me an offer letter, w4 and a front and back copy of a check for $2300 by capital one bank. Seemed to be legit. Until I had to begin my training the following morning, in which after 24 hours the check should have cleared and been ready for my large purchases of all kinds of equipment and software for my "home office" . Paid 3 week vacation, sick days, personal days, full expense account for incidentals, Gym membership, 2 vacations a year all expenses paid for myself and a guest to keep up morale. Who wouldn't want to work for the company, Awesome job so far, right? WRONG! However i have an awesome bank TD Bank, and they weren't going to let a bogus check and irregular activity my account go unnoticed. So they putt a freeze on my account for 10 days to authenticate the origin of the check. Long story short went to my bank and alerted them of my feelings, they told me the check didn't look quite right to alert the authorities. Btw, the company was quite annoyed and in shock as this had never happened to them before. They even told me someone who started training 3 days ago was already full time, Telling me my job was being compromised. Really putting pressure on my to cask that check. Almost forgot, they told me that since the funds were not available yet that if i could put up $200 for software that they would supply me with a useable laptop for my home. Upon return I alerted the company Babylon health, llc as to the banks findings and not only did they not respond they blocked me on Google hangouts. It's been 3 days haven't heard since. They are foreign, of Indian decent and always prefer to have an online interview trough Google hangouts, with names such as henry reed, Nick pedersen, luc Collins and Rebecca Ingram. But I'm sure they were all aliases. They also use web sites such as, ziprecruiter and monster to snag your resume. Be aware, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Terrible experience, but an experience nonetheless.

I lost couple hundred dollars and they got my info. After gathered all my private numbers, paying for the imaginary kits and info, they told me I'm not qualified.

I got approach by a company that I research and it seems to have a valid website and address but wanted to interview through hangouts and for me to create an account. For me that’s too weird so I didn’t follow up with them anymore. Same thing they pulled my info from zipprecruiters.

Whenever you don't know what to do PUNT ! , that's an old adage for Start over when you get the next chance. It's not like you can lie down take a nap and everything is going to be hunky dory. You just keep throwing yourself at the world and it will eventually fall into place. You might end up on top of the world before you know it

When you get these offers, look at the email address. A fortune 500 company is not going to be using a GMAIL address. If there is a legit sounding domain name, visit the website domain and see whats there. There are companies all over the world that will let you create your own email domain for a few dollars a month; a small price to pay for what the scams rake in. One of the best ways to weed out these scams is to use an "email domain analyzer". There are plenty of free on-line sites that will track the geographic path of an email, and you'll find many of these scammers bounce emails all over the globe. STAY VIGILANT. Report any scams to the local authorities!

Contrary to the data coming out of Washington DC, we still have unacceptably high levels of unemployment & underemployment in the US. You always have to try to remember that when you get an offer that seems to good to be true. I don't know of too many companies sending out checks to potential employees they have never met. I wish you the best of luck with your search!

Good example of if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Almost happened to me a few years ago. Glad you didn't get hurt.
