Property Manager at Public Storage

Frustrated

I feel like i made a mistake leaving my last job..... Long story short, i was happy being in chicago where i grew up, but my spouse hated it there. I was traveling back and forth on my two days off, and it was getting really irritating. I would leave after work, and drive 3 hours, stay until the next workday, and leave at 3 am so i would make it home to be ready for work. I quit my job which i loved, and now am pretty miserable. I made good money working for a very large self storage company. Now i am stuck in something i hate, and vowed not to ever do for a huge salary decrease. It was all that would hire me, and i have been looking since the day i relocated. I have excellent references, and a decent resume. Property Management, administrative assistant , or leasing agent are my specialty. I am definitely not cut out for ( do you want fries with that!) I hate food. I am also tired of these job sites that send emails saying, hey i saw your job experience as a leasing agent and thought of you with this job! Total click bait, because will click on it, and its for fast food jobs as a manager! Nope. Not a goal for me. If someone likes food, thats great. Its just something i always hated. Sorry, just ranting

Yeah that's what happens to me too. But on another note have you ever thought of going into business for yourself. It may start off hard but don't give up keep pushing. Surround yourself with positive people and start networking... just a thought

Yes,I understand where most people are coming from. You give up a Damn good job for a job that barely pays minimal wage. And they promise you all the great benefits and you don't get a Damn thing unless you work for a year. That does suck with anyone who trys to make a good living and living paycheck to paycheck. Now these days it take two people to actually to make it in this world, but if you are by yourself your just FU...d..

I have moved 19x in 34 yrs with my spouse he has been with same company entire time. I have had to dust myself off and start over continually. It is not easy been I. 1 career for 12 years now and cannot find another job. Overqualified and old. On every job board possible and sent out numerous resumes. Fished daily by recruitering companies. 3 interviews in 4 months. Offering $10 bucks an hour. I have a masters and cannot get a break. My 24yr old cannot find a good job reduced to working for $9 bucks an hour. Talk about frustration beyond. I know your journey and it’s not an easy road.

Hmmm...your spouse hated it in Chicago? I’m presuming your spouse had a lucrative career lined up in your new place of residence? I strongly encourage travel and living elsewhere as we’re only here once, however, your sacrifice seems to have been pretty heavy. Can you think about business for yourself? Maybe your spouse had colleagues that can refer you?

Either way you were given a difficult choice, wish you the best.

I left a very lucrative career in South Florida and took a massive pay cut to be with my woman in Indiana. Long story short: Bad idea. There are women in Florida. I should've stayed put. Never leave a career for a woman. Women are easy, they make new ones every day. Good jobs are hard to find.
