Depends on who's doing the bullying, really.
I'm dealing with a 2nd in command right now whom has no say whatsoever on hiring me full-time ,but acts like he does and there ain't no massaging not enough budget. Knowing that I give what i receive. If he gets all cantankerous on me I show him the same discourtesy always watching the language that I choose. I'm preparing my letter of resignation in protest , in no small part , to his poor managerial behavior and lack of skills( a case of Job position ascension by seniority* ). BUT , you have to be prepared to move onto another job First then all of the garbage ( As in " I don't have to take that from anyone ) "won't matter anymore because you know you're on your way anyway.Great position to be in, but absolutely vital. And ,remember, bad management reflects directly upon the company's poor choices in selecting him/her fro whatever reason. I'm a firm believer in Never reward bad behavior with acquiescence. You only reinforce the continuances in their poor choices . And if upper management doesn't care then what the hell are you doing working for such an entity exercising what you know are management poor choices anyway. OK , end of rant. ;-)

Fredric, I LOVE this. It's so true - you shouldn't have to put up with bad management and a toxic workplace. Great advice for our community!
Follow -up: Well I must say that already having a prepared and printed out Resignation notice, with all of the *right * reasons for tending one's resignation( firmly planted in your mind by committing them to print ) WORKED!. Now that half-assed manager is on notice to *hands on * train me the right way and prove that he really is management material to begin with. I sincerely agreed to her, the Senior Admin , to allow bygones to be bygones and start with a clean slate while promising to give hi my all with the proviso that he do the same to which he noticeably chaffed at more than a bit. It also helped that I had more than enough digital back-up proof to substantiate my counter-claims against his lack of managerial leadership. It was to the point that this Sr.Admin no longer wanted to even look at my video-captures nor see my cel phone records, but , in essence , declare nolo contende ( no contest ) and start with a clean slate. I took that as a solid win.to never have to even reach into my notebook and produce my letter of resignation on her desk. Never even felt the need to mention that I had one already with me , but I was genuinely prepared to produce it. This is what I mean by being prepared to actually walk. I guess a genuinely astute manger can subliminally read that understated level of confidence in what degree one has taken with their position ( more to her credit , but not always guaranteed , but then you wouldn't want to really work under such conditions anyway , so be genuinely prepared to walk the talk )
