Negotiating tips?
Hopefully this isn't premature as I have not heard back since taking the personality assessment, but I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on negotiating. We have already discussed salary but I have never been good at asking for vacation time and other perks. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Tip for you all bosses want to be challenged so don't miss a great opportunity because you did not show your true potential to be a leader.
Do your research, for women it's harder to negotiate because company's don't expect it. Go in armed with the information you have, and don't be afraid to say "men in this field make X and I deserve it as well."
Good question Rhonda..... Definitely show excitement about the offer and the job opportunity. Find out what are ‘negotiable’ vs. standard benefits so you know what’s open for negotiating. Remember that the salary offer only represents part of the overall compensation package so if the salary comes in below what you expected try to negotiate more desirable benefits or job flexibility options to make up or come close the difference. Hi Rhonda, Great question! First, make sure to start the conversation positively.. something like, "I'm excited about the possibility to join (company name) and to talk about the terms of the offer..." then, be really clear about what you want. The company may or may not have the flexibility to change the benefits package... but you'll never know unless you ask!! Good luck!
