Am an unemployed manual machinist (lathes mills, drill presses, etc.) and am having a rough time of things here in Chicago. Am 58 years old with a ton of experience. At least me age isn't doing. I suffer from not working like everyone else, but you just can't dwell on the negatives too long. Health issues are catching up to me too. 18 month ago was diagnoses with diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. 10 months ago I had a remainder of 20 teeth removed in a two week setting (Had dentures made but can't eat with them). My son is going off to college and his mother & I are calling it quits after a little more than 20 years. I need surgery for a rotator cup in my right shoulder (continuous pain that I will not take pain medications for !) After this surgery I will again be looking for work and a new start in life. Kinda like the idea of that. For all of you out there at the end of your ropes keep in mind that there are people out there doing a lot worse the I am,... and you too.
