WorkSource CAN Find you Work
So, I have been desperately looking for work recently, knowing my college financial aid was running out. I had a job for four days before the company felt like it was a bad fit. This job was gotten through Adecco. More recently a friend gave me a link to the states site which lists a bunch of job fairs in your area. I looked through them and found one that was up my alley, customer service. I went to a Worksource that was 45 minutes away from me. I was there for over an hour and talked with a woman who said another guy would call me to set up an interview. I patiently waited and got the call and the guy scheduled an interview the next day. I again, had to drive an hour or so to this appointment. I made sure to get there early. I was required to take a assessment test consisting of 40 questions. I got 38 correct. I then had to do a one minute and three minute typing test. I aced those as well. Afterwards, they indicated my scores were good enough to qualify me for the tech support job. After talking with a recruiter and then a hiring manager, i was offered a job to start on the 22nd.
Anyway, what is my point? If I can find a job, I think anyone can. I have not worked for SIX long years and my work history is fairly spotty. I just responded to every single thing I felt fit my skillset. You gotta put yourself out there. People aren't just gonna come to you. You CAN find work, I did. If I can do this, anyone can with the proper effort. Worksource can be an invaluable means to find a job as well as job training. Consider going to one near you. Be willing to travel an hour or so for a job. What is most important is that you find work, even if it turns out to be a bit of a drive for you. Most importantly, NEVER EVER give up!
Congratulations! Will check 'Worksource' out. Thank you and good luck on all future endeavors.
