I can't work this much!
I have a part time job as a receptionist that has been going really well. Well until about a month ago. I can only work part time because I have to help my husband get to doctor's appointments a lot. I won't go into details about his condition, but he just can't do it by himself. Recently my boss has been wanting me to work 7-8 hour days every day, but then it bumps up right next to the doctor's appointments. I signed onto this job knowing it would only be 20-30 hours a week, but now it's almost 32-37. I'm so stressed with everything that's going on, I just don't know what to do.

Boo Hoooo!!!! Suck it up..

God and Family first. I think you should talk with your boss and hopefully he or she will understand.Don't get stressed out. It will work out. Dont know if you are a religious person but have faith.

Tanya, The only thing I disagree with is going into detail with your boss about your husbands illness. Not there business. Remember you end up in a trap of bringing your problems to work. Seems like your boss really likes you, but you have given enough information. Ultimately some how it will get turned around, I agree with the woman who said give him a list of appointment times and be done with it. Its his issue to work with the new girl.

PT-1 Form for transportation. Don't you want to check this out?

HUN JUST RELAX BECUZ EVERYBODY NEEDS TO WORK FOR A LIVING ESPECIALLY IF WERE NOT ON DISABILITY OR HAVE A DISABILITY THERE IS A PROGRAM CALLED MEALS ON WHEELS THAT CAN HELP YOU OUT TAKING HIM FROM HOME TO DOCS APOINTMENT AND BACK HOME.JUST PRAY TO GOD AND GIVE ALL YOUR WORRIES TO HIM

Quit! Your husband is more important than any job!

Have u ever thought about hiring somebody to help u with your husband doctor appointment

I forgot to tell you about a strange and wonderful situation I know about. My friend has a son whose challenges are mighty. He is unable to do much, and needs constant supervision and help, right down to bathroom and shower duties. So - dig this. She got CNA licensing, applied to a service, got hired - and now she gets paid to stay home with her kid. AND she gets 48 hours off every week. It's a crazy story, but I swear it is true.

Hi Tanya.. Family should ALWAYS come first! Yes we still have bills to pay, understandibly - however the time at your job might allow FMLA, speak with your HR DPT on if you qualify. Also, what was the aggrement upon you being hired will also be looked upon. Good. Luck and best wishes for you & you're family!
Hey Tanya,
Your frustration is overstandable, & I hope all has worked out for you & your hubby. This is another one of those sticky situations, but fixable. Reminding your employer diplomatically of your hire obligations (part-time) sounds like a must. Explain your commitment to your husband, which is priority. I hope you let him know & also offered a solution like a day or two of training the novice. Granted it's not your responsibility, but it demonstrates initiative. Employers appreciate that. Success to you & I wish you & your hubby all the best!
