Jobs with benefits
OK my friends I ventured out to a call center which is one hour drive one way for $3 more than what I'm making with benefits. My drive now is only 7 min not 40 hours no benefit . I received a call from the owner same day I would have a $1 raise on this check and let's have a meeting about a different position next week. I have an interview this Friday for the call center what should I do?

If more $ is what u wanted frm your present employer&u don't mind driving out of your way, then stay!If your looking for a fresh start&feel there isn't any room for progression, take that interview baby;-)

This feels like one of those math questions you see on tests! lol but seriously, i think it all depends on what you're comfortable with. Yes, the better pay would be nice, but can you do the hour drive? price it out to see how much you'd be spending on gas per month, and what driving two hours each day would do for your life (for example, if you have kids, will it affect when you can pick them up from school, that kind of stuff). Btw, congrats on the interview! I would definitely go and see what they're offering you, and then see what your current company wants to give you. Excited for you!
What stands out to me about your dilemma is not the raise or the commute - it's the benefits. That can be huge. If we're talking about the difference between having health insurance and not having it at all, that alone can save you thousands of dollars. That would weigh very heavily, for me, in favor of the newer job.
But your time is clearly important to you - I notice that you add your current job is "not 40 hours" which I take it to mean the new one would also mean more actual work time, as well as more commute. That, unfortunately, is something that everyone must decide for themselves depending on their situation. Do you have young children? Are you their primary caregiver? That would substantially limit your options. Personally I spent a very large portion of my career only ever looking at jobs with a short commute, but my kids have gotten older now and require less "be at home at a moment's notice" type of flexibility. So I recently took a job with an hour commute, that pays excellent benefits. Couldn't be happier! But I don't think I could have made that decision 10 years ago, my life was in a different place.
Good luck! If your boss mentioned a new position, maybe you can find yourself with a compromise -- if you got a 40hour position at your current place, would you have benefits? Then you've got most of what you wanted - benefits, a shorter commute, and at least a partial raise.
