George,

For every action there is an opposite reaction. Granted you being laid off might have been wrong, but in this case your reaction should've been to report him and his comments to your supervisor. Instead you became defensive (rightfully so) but the mistake was showing a negative side to your demeanor in a professional environment. Management saw you as hostile which affected you. Yes, some employers handle employees wrongfully in some situations but from an employer's perspective you caused a scene while defending yourself.

I'm sorry you were laid off, but take this experience and move onto. Don't stress yourself out or carry your anger over this. Let it go. What's done is done.

George I am sorry you were discriminated against. That should have never happened in the work place.

Unfortunately some people lack the common sense to realize the simple fact that for every action their is a reaction. It goes both ways. He said something stupid and offensive and discriminatory, you reacted in anger instead of going through the proper channels of filing a complaint against him for racial discrimination in the work place, you lost your job. He is still their hating on the next black man, waiting to discrimimate against him. Hoping he reacts like you did, makes him lose his job, and the cycle continues. File a complaint for racial discrimination in the work place. Thats the way to stand up for yourself in the work place of in society. Use the systems in place that way you have a paper trail as well other people hearing more than one side of the story.

It is ignorance. But now you have to create a first barrier for youself. So that these things don't instantly penetrate and trigger negative feelings like anger which leads to possibly worse. With just that fraction of extra time you can evaluate the importance you should put on that person's statements, your options and any possible outcomes and most important is we ask ourselves, do I value my job enough to take a moment to weigh options and let the instance of anger subside before making a decision.

Racism still exists...sorry to hear that happnd to you but you were prbly out numbrd as far as being the only color there and you have to understand he prbly been there longer and who ever layed you off when the other person was wrong, prbly was white to so they were more likely to excuse what he did knowing he was wrong than to lose him they chose to letchyu go nstead because that wasnt the first time he did that. Just wait...he gone fall asleep at the wrong time and something bad is going to happen and it will fall on them. So no worries that was a sign somethng bettr is comn yor way. They are idiots..yes i said it!
