Need some advise or opinions

I lost my job in June 2017, since then I have been looking for a teaching position and filling out those hours long job applications. I have a valid teaching certificate and 17 years teaching experience. I think my problem in getting a job is that I have to mention that I had a bad evaluation and my contract was not renewed and had to quit the district, it's one of the questions asked on applications and don't want to lie. Should I not mention it at all? I am also disabled, I show up at job interviews using my walker or my scooter, but it depends on where I go to interview. The biggest school district in told me good luck in my job search, or I just don't get a call or email from the other districts. Either I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or the rules changed and no one told me. What is going On? Never have I had so much trouble getting hired before. Any ideas, please, it's really discouraging. I would really like to continue teaching.

Tell the truth! If you do not get the job ask yourself this did you feel you did a good job? Because I have seen employers not give good employees the best evaluations. Trust your skills as teacher keep looking, you will find what you are seeking.

Hi Maria, as a past educator I can tell you that Schoolspring.com offers jobs specifically for educators that you can look into. I would not necessarily mention your evaluation unless it's brought up and only then frame it as positively as you can. Ugh, I use to dread those yearly evals! I feel for you Maria. I personally didn't have any negative ones, but my friend had a difficult situation herself and she went on to work for a new district and was just fine. I would make sure to update your resume and apply. I am not sure how it is in your state, but in mine, there were limited jobs and it was hard to break into. If all else fails sub for awhile until you can get in somewhere. You can also tutor nights! Wishing you the best, stay strong!
