Tis the Season
I just completed an online application for a seasonal service position with Home Depot. It took me over an hour to get through it so I hope they call me for an interview. What happens to seasonal employees once the season ends? Anyone have any experience working a temporary or seasonal job? I wouldn’t mind staying on permanently if that’s an option. Can temporary workers collect unemployment benefits when the season ends?

If they hire for seasonal, that is all it would be. I have experience with this. Keep your eyes open for a permanent position to apply for if you like working there, tell your boss you are very interested in the open position, and ask him to look for your application. See what he says. My job is seasonal now, I have to apply again if I want the job again. Stephanie

If you work well and hard and the employer likes u, they may hire u on full time. Have to work minimum of 6 months to collect unemployment

Hello Marie, What happens at the end of the season can be determined on multiple things. One would be if they still need positions to be filled. Another would be how well you did during the time you are there. I had a friend who was a seasonal worker at Target who stayed on while about half the others were let go. Do your best with everything and you may find they keep you!
Also, since it is listed as a seasonal job, I don't know that you would be able to collect unemployment after. I would suggest as the season comes to a close, speak with your manager about keeping your position, and if it sounds like they may not be keeping you, start looking for something new that you could start after.
I hope this helps!
Can you send that application to me please and think you
