Almost scammed
I was contacted by a recruiter, for an online data-position through hangouts. After going through the interview process for 60 minutes; I was told that I was hired after that, they told me to buy an IPhone ll which was listed or around 700-1,000 dollars and send it to their IT dept so it can be reprogrammed for data I need to have in order to work online. I just told the recruiter that I was unemployed! After the person cut off from hangouts and stated that I should check around cheaper price. Also, I forgot to mention that the recruiter said that "Whatever you pay you will be reimbursed on your first check". Does this sound right? I would like some feedback. Thanks

This does not sound right at all! Definitely seems like a scam, great catch J harris ! Thank you for sharing with the Jobcase community!
I agree with Ben. The iPhone purchase request sounds really strange. Normally the company would provide the phone from their end if it is really for the work. The 60-minute interview process for a data role does not sound right either.
