Tricked Out of My PTO!!

I resigned from my job with 3 sick and 1 personal holiday unused. That’s a total of 32 hours I was expecting to collect on my last paycheck according to my original manager but when I brought it up to HR they told me that has never been a separation of employment policy. I was counting on that money to pay bills until I could find another job. I would have taken that time off if I knew I wasn't going to get paid for it. Is there anything I can do to get paid for time that I’ve already earned?

That's unfair! You should check the company policy to see if that is included. If it is not included in the policy then you need to report it

I had 2weeks vacation and 3personal days left when I put a 2week notice in and they waited till the end of the 1st week 2let me know I'm not getting paid for any of that time unless i use it immediately. Ridiculous! Things employers do are disgustingly ignorant!

In most cases the company should and let me lean real hard on the word should pay you for vacation time that is unused. The personal day more often then not will never be viewed in the same light. A company should operate with due diligence where employees are concerned. Just good business practice on their part. Then again in the world of the ever fateful words of Bottom Line corners are cut to save a buck. Along the way they lose your respect and many more to follow by trimming that edge. Which should send a message to everyone dealing with them how shoddy they operate. Does not help your situation but for future reference make sure the next place you land has in writing what they do with unused vacation days. If it says use it or lose it your options are well defined.

Why quit a job without having another lined up? Just asking?

How long had you worked there? It sounds like you may have accrued time but not earned time. That happens more often than people realize. This maybe the reason. Need more info.

Companies have to pay you for that because you earned it. Go to your local unemployment office and let them file a claim against this company for lost wages. This is their job, it's what they do. Take your last check stub and the one before that. They can also pull your wages you have earned from this company by your social security number. The check stub would show how many sick days and PTO days were left. Also that they didn't pay you for them. The sooner the better.
