Go to the Department of Labor office that serves your county of residence. Georgia offers a program for the unemployed (WIOA, I believe) where you can receive free job training certificate programs. It's my understanding that you not only go to school to become certified in a legitimate, employable trade (ex: auto mechanic, welding, fork lift operator, CNA, office admin skills...many, many to choose from) you can qualify for child care, gas $ assistance and possibly some pay during training. The certification programs vary in length, depending on what you would like to do. When you're finished, you are a skilled laborer AND you don't have any crazy student loans to pay off! You have a career, not just a "job." As far as I know, there is no age restriction. I was told that I could do it and I'm 45. If I hadn't landed this position at one of the top companies in my field, I would have been checking into it, myself. Thankfully, after 3 1/2 months (felt like 3 1/2 decades) of searching, I finally found something that I wasn't overqualified for, wasn't a 2 hr commute each way and didn't require 65 hour work weeks. There are so many great people here who haven't had the opportunity to learn a real skill. People who have a great work ethic and have so much more they can and desperately want to contribute. The man in the post above is a great example of someone who truly wants to be someone and do something rewarding with his life. Antoine, I hope that you can find a similar program in your state.
