Loosing hope.
I was layed in 2014 and have been contracting since then. I need a permanent job I am becoming frustrated and very disappointed. I had a career. I'm afraid I will never find a job. I have applied for everything customer service, administrative assistant, and accounts payable which is what I have done for 16 years. I am becoming discouraged.

Sometimes you have to keep focus and work toward the benefit of getting the call that you are looking and get into some trade classes that can help you get that job permanently.

You may want to change your post, you say "I have been layed in 2014" I know you meant laid off :) friend!

wat do you want to me to do

oh, and i went to church, asked GOD what i wanted and had other to pray for me. Once i heard about something i kept my mouth shut.

since you are over qualified for the positions that are out there have you decided the next level up of what you are doing? Like a executive assistant? You probably have. Have you asked your recruiter to find you a job with benefits or put it out there yourself to companies you want to work for? Sometimes I would put my resume out there for other positions. At times I had to dummy down my resume. So i had two resumes at hand, one that is professional and the other which was a dummy down.

dont get frusrated anymore, i know what you are talking about. I flooded my resume out there with a basic cover letter to companies. First i looked foer jobs that i knew that i wanted, that was basic and wrote it down. Then my speciality was i wanted a job that was fun. That's what i wanted too. I took that piece of paper and rolled with it. I did not consider a job less than $30.000. I even went out of my element and applied for jobs like Personal Assistant to the Stars. Hey with all the BS you go through, you might as well get paid for it. Keep your head up.

Right now I am going through the same thing, you have to just keep moving and checking, but if you give up now just maybe a job of your likings will come around. Sometimes thats works and sometimes it don't. KTF (Keep The Faith) something will come to you.

You'll have to change your strategy. Dumb down your resume for those jobs needing little experience. Target other cities or states (any relatives out of town?). Go to a two-year college where you can qualify for a Stafford student loan and Pell grant (credit notwithstanding)--you will learn a new skill as well as have money to support your schooling (loan refunds permit payment of living expenses but you must be very disciplined as this is a loan to be repaid later and should not be wasted). Look into being an Uber driver. Be creative and determined. If you really want to work, you'll make a way.

Maybe its a good time for you to go spend time with your mom for a while and you can look for a job there? Or, how about getting certified to do some home health aide care? In other words, maybe a time to try something new. Go to the library and ask for help researching new job opportunities. See what appeals to you and is realistic. You arent that old. Don't give up. Keep trying. Something will turn up. Good luck.
STAY STRONG NOMATTER WHAT.
