The old ladies were mad at me
I liked my job while I was at Family Dollar, but occasionally customers would get confused when something wasn't a dollar. I made sure everything in our store was tagged or had a sign because as a shopper I HATE not knowing how much something is!! Certain items are not a dollar and the old ladies would get so mad at me sometimes. I can't help but laugh a little now. It's not like I determined the prices, but they just got SO worked up! I calmed them down and many times tried to locate a less pricier item for them. I would show them the original price tag of the item and they would turn to me and say "but that's not a dollar!" Bingo ;)
I know about "people who get angry" when things don't go their way. I worked in constituent services for a PA State Representative and a PA State Senator. If all I ever had to deal with at work were "old ladies who complained that everything in a store wasn't $1.00, I would have considered myself lucky. Imagine telling someone who needs medical care that, unfortunately, their income places them $10.00 over the limit to receive Medicaid? And they're angry, and you are frustrated and sad, because your personal belief is that EVERYONE deserves medical care, and that people shouldn't be "punished" for trying to stand on their own two feet. And the medication they need costs more for a one month supply than their take home pay is for two weeks.
Many will do their darndest to get a discount. Maybe politely remind them that they are at the Family Dollar and not the Dollar Tree.... two very different stores.

Yep, old ladies, and I realize this has also began in me, we can be grumpy and just tired. So sorry
Good thing is you show the Ladies some respect and good customer service..... they will remember you....
