Hello, wrongfully terminated

I was working for a building maintenance services the past six years when last Tuesday, I showed up and the supervisor said I was terminated. I asked for a reason and she got real ornery and asked if I was going to cooperated with the termination procedure or else she will call the cops and have them trespass me off the property, I would never again get a job with a big maintenance company or with security guards, blah blah. Problem IX there is someone stealing out of peoples lunch and their personal belongings — pocketbooks, and I myself got my iPhone and several other expensive stolen out of my backpack. I think I am being held to blame. Any tips,

Cubicle Millionaire

With regards to getting terminated.. here is a excerpt from Chapter 17 of my book, "Get Rich, Live Rich, Die Rich".

  1. Make Money with Everything You Do

17.1. Don't get stuck in rut of making money in just one way. If you think about it you can make money in many different ways doing what you already do every day.

This was some wise advice I got one day from an old millionaire man sitting next to me at my favorite breakfast diner. I was eating my breakfast at the counter shoulder to shoulder with patrons enjoying a filling American style breakfast. In Between bagel and coffee an old man sits on the stool next to me and orders some coffee. One of my favorite things about eating this way is that you never know who will sit next to you and what kind of info they can give you to make your life better.

I always love talking with old people as they have knowledge gained from a long life of mistakes that you can learn from if you ask for advice. I could see by looking at his key ring that he drove a corvette and also had a boat. I did not know it at the time but he only buys used cars and the boat was a modest one. After chatting about this and that I asked him the following question "Give me some advice that will help me attain more wealth". His answer was this. "Make money with everything you do".

At the time his wise words did not register and the importance of them did not appear to be significant. However, after he left I pondered his comments and it occurred to me that this statement really is a pearl of wisdom with regards to being rich. I can only imagine what it was like during the time this old man grew up. I assume that back then some 50 years or more if you wanted to make money you simply did whatever you could because the opportunities were limited. So if there was trash laying around maybe you became a trash man picking up garbage. If it snowed you shoveled snow for people. If the neighbor had trouble getting up stairs with bags of groceries you worked as a bag boy.

Today, we seem to have two worlds colliding with regards to work and what most of us are willing to do. On one hand we do not want to do jobs that we consider beneath us. We get used to doing one type of job and simply rely on that one type of job to be the main and only source of our income. However, with the advent of Sharing Economy websites such as Uber people are starting to do all sorts of jobs they would never have considered doing before. These new websites make it easier to put the "Make money with everything you do" concept into practice but you don't just stop there. If you are to get rich, live a long rich healthy life, and die rich passing your wealth on to loves ones then you should consider taking these wise words to heart.

Think about everything that you do every day. Take note of all the tasks, chores, errands you perform. For example, maybe you have a dog and walk that dog every morning. You can start a dog walking business. Maybe you drive to work alone in your car. Start a car pool. Maybe you like to ride your bike all over town. Start to deliver packages. These are only some simple examples of how you can dissect and analyze the statement "Make money with everything you do". You have to record everything you do in a day or in a week and think about ways to turn those activities into money. When you combine many of the lessons learned in this book especially the ones in the chapter about Google Drive, and the chapter about LIcensing, you make yourself a money making powerhouse. You already have the ability to earn income in a multitude of different ways but you most likely have not thought about it before.

Remember, Original Thoughts will provide for you the magic ideas to bring you riches that you have in the past only dreamed of. Making money with everything you do is essential for being rich in today's world where one day you have a great job and the next day it is gone. Technologies change, markets and economies change but when you make money with everything you do you insulate yourself from downturns that can occur in any specific industry. You can create several little businesses or with time and effort you might discover that one of the things that you normally do can turn into a lucrative full time venture. Think about the things you do during your day and ask yourself if other people can benefit from your effort at the same time. Do you go grocery shopping? There are now websites that will pay you to purchase and pick out groceries for other people while you do your own shopping at the same time. The explosion of Sharing Economy websites which monetize underutilized assets have changed the way people look at work. Do you collect coupons to save money? Other people can benefit from that activity also.

You can simply work for one of these sharing economy websites or start your own business using the techniques I outlined in the chapter about Google. Google gives you everything you need to start your own business from scratch with little or no cost. Make money with everything you do! Make money with everything you do! Let me give you another example. I love to get exercise windsurfing. I have been practicing this sport for more than 15 years. Wanting to make money with everything I do I put an ad on Craigslist offering to give lessons windsurfing for $50 dollars per hour. I got more than 10 phone calls in one week from interested people who want to learn how to windsurf. I set my price for lessons and have 3 new students that take lessons from me. At the same time I still went out there and got my exercise and made money at the same time. I also made some great new friends too. Also look at things you buy in the same way. For example, I needed a car so I bought a pickup truck so I could specialize in ferrying expensive art work from different galleries. I am also an artist myself so I was moving art work around from time to time anyway. This is a perfect example of how to put the “Make money with everything you do” idea into action.

Don't get stuck in rut of making money in just one way. If you think about it you can make money in many different ways doing what you already do every day. It takes only a little extra effort but the results will be more than worth it. Not only will you make more money but you will make more friends too as the people you offer service to are usually appreciative as it releases them to do other things.

Also and just as important, you are becoming less of an industrialized assets controlled by entities that centralize power. You become a modern economic micro engine by making yourself into a micro business entrepreneur performing a multitude of different types of tasks decentralizing your source of income. Looking into the future we sort of see the past coming back. I started this chapter with a reflection of how the old man that gave me this great advice looked at work when he was young. There simply was not that much opportunity so he most likely did whatever he could. His translation is Make money with everything you do. Today, there is no lack of opportunity. Technology and the Internet create so many new micro opportunities that it would be impossible for me to list them all here. The trick is to recognize the opportunities by looking at what you already do every day and how they can benefit you and others at the same time.

It depends on the State you live in. If it is an "at will" State, your employer can dismiss you without providing a reason. If not, you can file a complaint with your State labor dept. In either case, your old employer would be really stupid if they gave you a poor reference because they open themselves up to litigation. Good luck!

Go to EDD. File for unemployment. Tell them you were wrongfully terminated. Go through the process. You will eventually go before an Administrative Law Judge. If you win your case you will get unemployment plus, any attorney will take your case and you cab go after real damages. I did this and got $50,000.00

Christopher.. Well established companies have specific policies and procedures to be followed when the termination of employment, becomes necessary. Based on my understanding of your written statement, it is apparent that this company does not have such policies or procedures, which could result their inability to protect themselves against claims or lawsuits. If it is true that they terminated your employment because of alleged theft, there should have been an exhaustive investigation that proves your guilt and you should have been questioned in connection with the alleged theft. If you were not included in the investigation and they have terminated your employment for theft, it sounds like you did not receive due process which is a term that requires that all interested parties get an opportunity to speak about the issue. I think you may want to review this situation with the Dept of Labor and ask for their assistance.

There is a great free website called glass door where you can write the pros and cons of a company . Also no one in America has to tolerate that treatment file a EEOC complaint you may be able to file a suit against the company and not work for anyone again .

You have one year to file a complaint with the civilian human right committee. Call 311 to make a appointment. They will investigate your discharge. If they did terminate you wrongfully then you do have a case.

Did you report your personal items stolen and file a police report.? That would be a good place to start.

Texas is a no fault state, which means you can be terminated for any reason. Hopefully you filed for unemployment and won your case.

Then I would contact the EEOC and file a complaint with them, and then a lawsuit for wrongful termination. That will be a long process and often hard to prove.

Let the government fight for you and finds another job. Sounds like someone was CYA at your expense.

Good luk
