Let go because of my age
In December 2019 my husband and I were told that after 20 years of working for a major dealership as IT Consultants that we were getting too old (65 and 67) and couldn’t give many more years of work as a younger worker could... We were in shock and many of the co workers and Managers were appalled to see us go because they said that our work was outstanding. Can we sue for age discrimination? It has been next to impossible to find jobs since then because the employers seem to be afraid of older workers. We just want to work and do not even ask for any benefits just a paycheck.

I think this is the definition of an ageism suit, and that you would win.
But, it’s a pretty good idea opening up Your own firm, if you’re up to it.
Just an idea but have you both considered forming your own IT consulting business? Employers may be more willing to bring you in as consultants because it removes the worries on their end. Plus all those years of experience now become an asset rather than a liability
You both should enjoy retirement and not worry about that place!
I am so sorry for your situation. I honesty don't know why people would be afraid of older workers. I always learn a lot from them because they have experienced so much in life along the way. Keep trying and bless you for years to come!
Look at this as an Opportunity to do something different. You've paid your dues & now its time to relax & maybe work part-time. Enjoy your Senior yrs together.
