I’m Young and I need a job
I just turned fresh 18 & I’m looking for a part-time job! I live with my boyfriend and the rent is hard for us both, I really need financial help, so I’m really in need of a job. Could somebody point me in the right direction?

Hey my girl does restaurant serving she makes pretty good money a week , some days she brings home $150 a night. Just a suggestion to you Aeliza

If you like children or older people such as your grandma try becoming a Personal Care Attendant

Aeliza -- why only a part-time job? Welcome to adulthood, now that you are 18 and are expected to support yourself.
Right now you need to make some decisions about what direction you want to take your life and what you need to do to become self-supporting. Right now it sounds like your boyfriend is the only one bringing a paycheck in and it isn't going far enough. Of course not, there are very few households that can make it on one paycheck--that only works if the person bringing home the paycheck is highly paid. Household where both the man and the woman have to work multiple jobs to make ends meet is unfortunately too common these days.
There are plenty of scut jobs out there that pay minimum wage. Remember there is always pride in doing honest work. In your case you cannot afford to be particular. Most of us started with our first job being someplace like the fast food industry. We did it to get our foot in the door and worked hard so we can move on.
The biggest danger I fear for you is that one day your boyfriend might leave you for a woman who is bringing in her own paycheck. That is why you must recognize that your most important job in life is to become self-supporting, because these days a woman can simply not rely on someone else supporting her for the rest of your life.
So go find that part-time job to ease the financial pressure for the time being. But also march yourself up to your local community college, unemployment office job counseling center (you don't have to be collecting unemployment to use their services) and even the public library to start researching career options.
Remember unless you plan for your future, you are not likely to be very happy with it when it arrives.

There are plenty of jobs, don't be particular!! You are 18, Have you ever worked, if not it will hurt you in your search !! your best bet is fast food , they will give you a try, but if you want weekends off ,get use to being unemployed !! If I seem harsh, sorry, just you are 18 and not working, you should have known it would be hard before you left home !! In most households both adults must work today ! Why only Part Time?? Get a work history first, than you can look for more suitable job ,a job you love !! But to be blunt, employers see you are 18 and not working and if you don't have a work history, and you only looking for part time, that tells the employer you will either quit after a few paychecks, or you really don't want to work ,either way the employer will have big reservations !!! My advice, go for full time if offered, but if you put down on application, fill or part time ,it will make you more attractable !! Good luck !!

There is tons of jobs. Apply yourself.

hey aeliza - i have a group here on jobcase for young people who work or want to work. I invited you!

Try applying for Publix. They may be harder to get into but if you are persistent then it should work out overtime. Stock clerks can earn $10 per hour starting without work experience. If you go full-time then it should be more then enough to help with the bills. They pay weekly and you get benifits. There is always room to grow in the company. I'm going to apply myself, because I'm currently in the same boat as you. You should try it too. :) Good luck!!
