I have been trying to transition from my most recent career of 10 years back to my first career sector but am finding it difficult due to the amount of time I have been out of the first sector. I have drafted a cover letter that touches on the transition and how the first career is the foundation for the carer which followed. I have also adjusted my resume a bit to downplay how different the two fields are, leaving the common skills in the document. Any suggestions on how to increase interest from recruiters?

I find that most recruiters are looking for a well rounded background in different careers. I wouldn't down play any of your work experience. I think leaving one career to work in another can only help your knowledge base and I always learned new aspects of myself in every job I worked at which increased my over all business sense and experience.
