"Classy" Rejection
I've been looking for an executive level job in HR for about a year now. I have 20 years of HR experience and I am an attorney. I received the following rejection email: :
"Hello Robert, Hope this note finds you well! I would first like to thank you for your interest in the ****** VP,CHRO opportunity. To quickly introduce myself, my name is S******** P********* and I am an Associate with the **** ***** HR Practice. Our firm has partnered with ****** in search of the institution’s next VP,CHRO. Just to share our client is one of the top-ranked research institutions with significant studies in areas such as aging, cancer, reproduction, genetic diseases and rural health. ***** is currently looking for a VP,HR/CHRO who would be responsible for all aspects of HR while leading the charge in strengthening the current HR platform and strategic model to align with the institution’s overall mission. In this role, the VP, HR/CHRO would not only be a key component and contributor on the Executive leadership team, but will also be working to improve the institution’s Performance Management, Learning and Development, Training and Development and Change Management processes while building a more strategic partnership with the institution. Please note, we have thoroughly reviewed your background and though impressive, we have decided to proceed with other candidates who better align with this opportunity. Thanks again for your interest in the ***** VP,CHRO opportunity. Wishing you all the best in your search."
As I began reading the email, my initial feeling was elation followed by disappointment. In my opinion this is not how you inform someone that they have been rejected. Thoughts?

Totally wrong

Certainly a letdown and not the kind of rejection I'd want to get.
They really buried the lead there. That is a poorly constructed and tacky form letter.
