Really trying to start over!

I have been a staff nurse for almost a decade, and an LPN for five years. I really want to try the OR, ER, same day surgery, urgent care, and teach, but I keep hearing that you need two years experience. I worked ICU, IMC, Telemetry, and medical surgical units. I love nursing just want to do something different!! I am really trying but no real success, is it me?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "It doesn't matter."

Hi Latrice Fitts ,

I think you have tons of experience as a nurse. My mom was a nurse, and she talked about tons of long shifts and draining days and nights in the hospital.

I would talk to the head nurse and hospital administration about what you want to get into. Odds are they have no idea on your goals on working in different departments, and they would probably welcome the help depending on where you are.

There's no shame in wanting to change the pace a bit - and it definitely isn't you! I hope this advice helps a bit. Let the community know what happens!
