Set Up Machinist at Tci Aluminum

As a laborer who has worked my way into a manufacturing Foreman. Successfully supervising took more to then experience to step into the lead of a team. 1: People skills top of my list. You are transitioning to a role of support and that equates foremost to natural or learned abilities. 2: Abilities to do all the jobs under your tree supervision. setting a course and pace for the whole team. This is including putting people into appropriate roles, hiring and firing, discipline and praise. This may not even include your work load daily. Setting pace and making a enjoyable work environment for the crew has always been my first step.

I started as a laborer but with hard work I moved up . I earned three promotions before becoming a supervisor. Being a supervisor you have to have strong leadership skills and understand different personalities and behaviors in order to relate to the people you are supervising.

Fiber Drop Supervisor at Field Services

I started my career off as a technician, not long after became a supervisor. I got there by leading by example, actively participating in our morning meetings, coaching my peers, having excellent attendance, and going above and beyond for our customers. These were the qualities management was looking for and it’s now what I look for when considering someone for a leadership role. Take pride in what you do and I believe everything will fall into place.

Knowing your expertise. Have the want to and ability to teach. I was blessed to be invited to Kellogg's Leadership and Develpment honors course in college. If you have the opportunity to take this or invest in it, here is where your answers are. I have noticed the biggest weaknesses in "Leadership" at the supervisor level including GM's in Bar/Restaurants is they have one immediatel style of leadership. ACT UTILITARIAN". They make the standards and procedures as they go and change them on the fly. They use termination as a tool to fluff their ego rather than be an effective leader and find areas to remediate the employee to excel in all areas. EGO is the greatest enemy of the ineffective leader.
