You deserve this….
How would you give Kudos to a fellow co-worker? We hired a new worker last February to help out with odd jobs in the warehouse. His main responsibility is to fill-in anywhere on the loading dock, sorting , or central warehouse areas where we have employee call-outs or need additional resources. It’s a treacherous job nobody else want’s to do because you never know where you're going to end up or who you're going to report too on any given day or hour. This young man's performance has been phenomenal since he’s been working here. He always shows up to work with a smile, positive energy, great attitude on every assignment no matter how bad, excellent work ethic, courteous, and well mannered. Most of us though it would phase out over time but it hasn't. I’m not his supervisor or anything like that but I’ve been thinking of writing a letter to Human Resources highlighting his exceptional performance. Not like anything I say is going to lead to a pay increase or a promotion for the lad but I feel his excellence thus far merits recognition. Has anyone ever done this for another co-worker before?

Yes, I have and it did actually lead to a promotion for that person. A lot of times managers are just satisfied that the job is getting done and forget about the person behind it. This coworker may have skills in other areas and you're letter may prompt HR to give a second look at his resume or application. It certainly couldn't hurt!

God bless

It's so refreshing to hear that you want to acknlowledge this person. Far too often I've heard back-biting istead so kudos to you, too for wanting to do the right thing. I would definitely let HR know so if something ore permanent opens up, he would be a fronyrunner. Also, you can offer to wrtie him a letter of recoomendation hat he can ttake on onterviews for other jobs in a "To whom it may concern" format. Your posting captures excellent points to ighloght such as a positive attitide, flexibilty with assignments. team player that are applicable to any job. Also, in addition to jobcases's kudos option, LinkedIn has a similar feature and I am finding in my job search that more and mre empoyers are providing an option to incorprate a LinkedIn page on a application. Thank you fpr your post, it really brightens my day to know that there are kind and professional people put there wanting to foster talent.

I in both professional and personal life, strongly adhere to the "Kudos" factor. Sounds like this worker certainly deserves a letter. If it even crossed your mind: that was your cue, never hesitate random acts of kindness. We need more people like that gentleman & you to take back motivation on any level. For management: ESPECIALLY, goes a long way & costs nothing, just saying.

Funny you should say that, Nathaniel, because Jobcase uses Praises to celebrate coworkers! Praises is a new feature that allows you to give a compliment or provide a glowing reference for a coworker, friend, or even the waiter that made your meal extra special. All you have to do is click on the "Praises and Reviews" text at the top of the page, then follow the prompts to Praise the coworker. Thanks for being such a supportive member of our community!
Definitely write that letter! Believe it or not it will make a difference for him. And if you are so inclined, give him a gift card to Starbucks or something to show you personally appreciate his outstanding work.
