Warehouse Associate at Amazon

My advice to people interested in working at #Amazon as a #WarehouseAssociate ...

Well i haven't been at amazon for too long roughly 4 months, it was quite a show really.

1#: if you are interested in working at an amazon warehouse try to stay off rate as much as you can, I never did stay off that and I got terminated for it due to the lack of rate I was making during the slowest peak ive been in. Best places to stay off rate is if you are wrapping full pallets or stowing cases in the freights

2#: If you are on rate the pressure is on, you atleast need to be able to scan 100 cases or totes per hour...so i would advise you don't stop to talk with friends for more than 30 seconds your rate goes down every minute when not scanning a box so you really need to stay moving when on rate.

3#: Don't freak out if you didn't make rate for one week its not that big of a deal...you get one more chance...the rate system is very confusing but the basics is that you will get a write up if you don't make rate on a certain week if you get a total of three you are terminated. Thats just the basics now im going to get into the more complicated side of it. If you are scanning in fluid load which is where you would fill up the freights, its extremly important that you make sure you scan all the cases to put into the freights you can't miss more than four, if you do don't sweat. You will get a write up but it takes three write ups in fluid load to make up one Actual write up that can lead to termination. During some points at amazon they will switch up the rate setting to where you will get a write up if you don't make rate in a week, to you will get a write up if you don't make rate in a day.

4#: when you are in end of line which is scanning cases or totes and putting them in a specific area, if you see a lane get backed up and a blue light comes on head there as soon as you can because one you will be able to get alot of rate off it and two its bad because it stops the lane you are on which backs up the conveyer above that supplies boxes to your lanr which can back up the flow so as soon as you see a blue light head straight there...granted you don't have too but i personally recommend it since at amazon you want to help your fellow employees but the most important thing is to have that blue light off asap so downstack boxes aswell so it can shut off

Those are probably the best tips i can give you so far as for learning the equipment and how the different sections operate they go over that in orientation. I know all of these tips have to do with rate but if you work at amazon that will be the only thing on your mind if you work as a associate there. Its good pay and easy work but believe me when I say that you will be throwing the presents on Christmas if you see blue lights come on.
