Are Job Fairs worth the time?
Hello everyone,
Is it me or is the job fair almost obsolete due to the technology? I've been to several job fairs over the past year, and they have a lot of companies there, but they all seem to just tell you to go on line and complete an application.
I thought the purpose of the job fair was to make a connection or have an advantage by speaking with someone in person.
They tell you to dress for success, but they just have someone from their company who tells you what they may be hiring for or which positions they have available. Then they tell you to go on line and apply.
I don't need to waste gas, drive, park, for a souvenir ink pen and peppermints just for you to tell me to go on line and apply. I can google and get that information from the comfort of my home.

Cecelia Palmer They can be worth a lot! I was about to post a nice success story: a young woman I am mentoring was hired ON THE SPOT this morning at the Atlanta Airport Career Fair! So proud of her. Greetings,Miss Palmer. While job fairs are not what you expect or hope for , they however furnish you with information that may not have been available on line. In these times, online applications are more cost effective for the employer to handle than the hard versions, hence the preference for them. The information that was available at the last event you attended , can be utilized to submit a strong, timely and relevant application, for a position that otherwise you might not have known was available. It is advisable to attend those gatherings for what is to be garnered therein, as you will someday be led to a path that will deliver your dream job.That’s what makes Job fairs great, regardless of what some people think
