There is another one to be leary of
I have been strung a long by an individual with the email of marktracy0147@gmail.com for a couple of weeks now. He claimed to be recruiting for Verizon Enterprise. The job was for data entry at a rate far above the going rates for such services. He too said he would send money for equipment that I was supposed to deposit and turn around and send to his vendor. I have seen this before. I requested a paper check. I told him that my bank will not make the funds available to me, until, after the check clears on the other end. He agreed to that. He also requested that I go on line via hangouts each morning, so that I could be on line at 8:00am for project instructions. When I questioned him about the money a second time, he said that it would be delivered the next day. A week and a half later I have not seen anything. I requested a tracking number for the delivery which was never provided. All of the times that I have gone on line except the first one, he has not joined the conversation. He made a statement that I was on a video call. Well the computer I was hooked up to does not have a camera or microphone attached. I have a mic that I use for speech recognition technology but the machine mic has not been hooked up or turned on.
Perhaps I am not knowledgeable enough about "hangouts" but I don't know how to make it do a "non video" call. That is a topic for another day.
I guess I had ought to contact Verizon and let them hunt him down and incarcerate him. My son used to work sales and support for Verizon.
If by chance the Perp sends you paper check you can call the bank it was written on and verify that it will clear. Do this before you attempt to deposit or cash the check to save your self a lot of problems.
Sorry to hear this happened to you LeMar. You should also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org/us/) and the Federal Trade Commission (http://www.ftc.gov/) to make sure those folks get flagged for fraudulent employment activities.
