Director Of Marketing

Absolutely horrible!

I was working for a company as a leasing director and was overseeing one of the very large flagship properties with leasing and marketing. During slow season, I got this owner the highest rent and got it occupy to over 95%, mind you this was over 500 unit property. I was told by the owner if I get this done, he will make me his vice president of marketing. I bust my behind and get the job done. The owner was having investor tours after Investor tours because the success of this property would allow him to close on a loan on another property across the street. Therefore, it was imperative this property was performing and it sure was over performing due to my hard work.

After the job was done and the property got to where he wanted, he closed on the property across the street as well, , the owner emails me and says his vice president of operations from Ohio is flying in to meet with me to discuss this further.

She called and we set up an appointment to meet at a local restaurant for lunch to discuss the VP of Marketing position.

On the designated day and time, I go over there and waited for 30 minutes and she was a no-show. I called her cell phone and it went directly to voicemail. I went back to the property and told my supervisor that I was rather upset and disappointed and she had a smirk on her face. Later that afternoon, the VP of operations calls me and tells me she went to a different restaurant, which was not true because that's the only one in the area. She apologized profusely and said she would call me that evening at 7:30 PM. I'm in my car driving home after a long day of work and have the phone on me and there was no phone call. At this time, I emailed The owner and told him I was very disappointed. He emails me and set an appointment to meet with me the following week. He comes in on Tuesday and walks into the office and walks right past me. He hangs around for a few minutes, talk to the property manager and heads out. I was in disbelief. Nothing was mentioned of the conversation regarding the VP of Marketing. Needless to say, this was never brought up again and I ended up leaving. I was completely brushed aside and ignored after he closed on the other property and made millions from my hard work.

Midwest guy, I suspect the VP that stood you up was up to no good. I would have had a frank talk with the boss and reminded him of what he promised you, and discussed where he sees you and your future with the company. I have always found that when the good people get passed over, the owner/management either doesn't know everything you did because others take the credit, or if they screwed you over, they eventually beg you to come back if you left peacefully and with class. If he doesn't give you the promotion you deserve, stay with the company while you look for another job with his competition.

This is truly awful and I feel for you, but didn't you say you already quit? Or is that not what you meant by leaving?

Hi Midwest Guy! Holy Toledo! What a bunch of miserable, conniving, low-life, lying, scheming, conning SOB's!!!! My heart breaks for you! And I thought my old boyfriends were useless! There is a place for them (my old boyfriends and those involved in this scam) and it won't be where you or I will be! It always amazes me that there are so many evil, lousey people in this world! We who trust people are not the fools that conartists thing we are I truly believe that evil people get what they deserve here on earth. They don't have to wait to die.
Okay. So you have a decision to make: Make a change and hunt a new job or keep your head up high and continue with this job. With consideration to how tough it is to get a new job and how much you don't want to be there, this is a very tough decision. Of course, you can do both at the same time. I wish you luck! Things have to look up!!!!!

It's not like the old days when a hand shake mend something. Always get it in writing. The women was extremely rude in how she treated you. It's ashame that we bust out back sides only to get brushed a side and someone else taking all the credit that should be yours.
