Help!
Hey, I can’t seem to get a job. I’ve been applying and looking since May. Usually I’ll get an interview, but the second they see me it’s game over. You see I’m legally blind, so I use a cane to get around. I’m extremely proficient in clerical and social services, but no one will give me a chance. I really need a job, because living on $800/month is next to impossible. I really want to throw in the towel and just work at a sheltered workshop (a place that employs the fmdisabled to do menial jobs, like counting bandaids) that pays less than minimum wage (because they say they are ‘teaching’ the disabled job skills). I’m not sure what to do anymore and my vocational counselor won’t help me. Any suggestions?

I feel for you girl, I am having the same problem, I have been on social security disability for 45 years and know wants to hire a person that brole his neck and was paralyzed from the neck down, but I recover over the years thank God ,but employer's still think I am a high risk

Get in contact with state rehab & have them help you w job hunting. Get ahold if Goodwill same thing. Have u thot about doing customer service from home such as insurance. Contact an organization for blibd& ask for help. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. You are more than counting Band-Aids.

My friend, go to your nearest Goodwill and they provide jobs for the disable. I suffer with fibromyalgia and diabetes and I still can’t get disability! They tell me I need to have a houseful kids before I can get Medicaid to pay for my medicine. When I lived in WI the people were so kind to us disable people. They take care of there people up north but the south sucks.....I went to the Goidwill and they told me they train but in a city that is over an hundred mike radius... it’s akwats something these days... The state of GA is not taking care of there people!!!

I am looking for work it sounds great where r we talking about

I don't see anything wrong with you. Blind or not, I see you a good worker. And likes to work.

Are you able to see shadows? Are you considered legally blind but could still see something?Lindamarie❤

Hey everyone, so here’s the deal: I’ve tried asking my rehab counselor for help and both she, and the rest of the office are clueless. Places like Salvation Army and other charities only help the developmentally disabled where I live. I’ve tried getting help from blind organizations, and no go. I’m trying to get my PhD in School Psych- I just need a job to help with income, so pursuing another degree wouldn’t help. Even though I could report discrimination, it more than likely wouldn’t work because it’s extremely easy for employers to cite some other reason why they didn’t hire you. Finally, yes I will accept any job out there if I can be trained properly.

You need to go your rehab office and see if you can help with getting hire.

Its lots of jobs here in Niagara falls I know they will hire u the casino is always hireing baby just hit up if u need more hlep
Try working for programs that will employ disabled people or organizations that volunteer services.
