Careers in Music

Music can be a hobby for some, a part-time job or full-time career for others. Having a career in music requires not only talent, but also the knack for self-promotion and networking (in person and using social media).

The music industry as a whole is competitive, but several careers within it are expected to grow over the next few years, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics, including choreographers: http://www.bls.gov/careeroutlook/2015/article/careers-for-music-lovers.htm

Do you work in the music biz? Is it a side job or something you do full time?

What tips do you have for others trying to break into the industry? #careers

For musicians, getting a job is often less about having a great resume and more about promoting yourself to the right people and in the right places!

One easy way to do this online is to start a webpage with videos and audio streams of your work! Here's a step by step:

  1. make a free website easily using services like weebly.com
  2. post all your videos and audio uploaded to youtube, soundcloud, etc on this page.
  3. share a link to your site on your jobcase profile. We'd love to see + hear your music here!!

For example -- My page of my classical piano music http://goo.gl/S8DFLh
