So fed up
For 6 months i been trying to find a job as a secretary cause i have arthritis eating my legs so bad i have nothing but bones deteriating my knees to almost cripple anyways every time i try to find me a job everyone refuses to give me an interview or call me because i don't have a GED I'm very computer smart and very good with the public i just tired of being denied a job cause i don't have a GED so disgusted over it bout to just give up trying

Get your GED however it is going to be very hard once you do get that interview. I know that even though they're supposed to make accommodations they make other reasons why they cannot hire you. I used to be a nurse I still am but I cannot work as one because of my MS arthritis so don't be surprised if once they see you they give you another reason why they will not hire you. Trying to find a job in a different area that you don't have to work to the point where your legs you want to rub off is very difficult.

Education is very important to almost all employers. Most employers will hire you if you have a high school diploma or GED, and statistics show that people who have a GED/diploma are more likely to get a job that pays better than the ones who do not have it. Talk to the Unemployment Department or your local High School about going back to finish school. Most High Schools have an adult education course that are available to anyone who applies for them, and It does not take a full four years to get your GED. I don't think there is anyway around this.

So go to the library and sign up to get your GED. No excuse not to. Nobody is going to hire you at a job where you're expected to be literate when you're not.

I am so sorry! getting a job is really hard these days. I can't seem to find a full time job, I have lots of experience in customer service, food industry, cashier, and have a bachelors degree in accounting and no one will give me a chance sense I don't have on the job experience in accounting, how do they expect you to get experience if they don't give you a chance and train you! I have to have a day time job cause I am night blind!!

You are so right some people have all that and dont have any experience at all but jave ged id rather hire someone whos confident in there selves and there work

If you know that not having a GED is the cause of not getting interviews, change that. Many employers require that because it can show someone can follow through and commit themselves to something. In the future you may see many employers looking for even more education than just a high school diploma or GED. Put more effort into yourself to make you more marketable. It's not always going to be easy, but worth it in the long run.

OK I know you dont want to hear this but you will need to get your GED. Its hard enough today trying to find a job without a college degree, so without the GED its almost next to impossible. I am sure you have all the qualifications, but it wont matter without that piece of paper. Yes, its not fair, but this is how it is. Please try to find the strength to sign up and take the GED. You might be able to do the classes on line, not sure though. I know its not what you want to hear but I don't see anyway around this one. Be well and have faith, you can do this!
You don't say if you have any experience being a secretary. If you did, it might overcome the employer's requirement for you to have a GED. Just having cputer skills and being good with the public doesn't put you above someone who does have a GED. Look at it from the employer's point of view. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's reality.
