The Texas Workforce is a great place to go. They can help you, as well as give you a list of jobs in your area so that you can choose which one fits your expectations.

Sales Associate at Tjmaxx

Hi cindy. I have worked with a nonprofit twice Nonprofits are run by private donations and do not profit for themselves but for the community. I have somewhat experience in helping teenagers throughout academically challenging times. Throughout the course of my volunteering with the organization kids needed or wanted to find jobs. Here is what you could consider : Find something that can streamline over into a career in which you know you can use at the new job. For instance, you already know it's with people and that you are outgoing. Ask yourself is it with kids? Recreation specialist with the City, depending on the age group of your class that you taught, Maybe, a Junior college tutor, check out the local college and see what are the credentials needed for a tutor, testing advisor, camp counselor etc. Happy hunting.

Hi cindy. You may want to start off by finding other jobs that can transfer similar to the environment you are comfortable with first. Such as in waxahachie or dallas that would offer with the city there. You could still work around people and you have to be outgoing. But consider the hours are flexible for someone who has other things going on.Make sure you let them know your schedule beforehand. Retail also is a good choice but the pay is crummy but try streamlining your career over to the kids department,. Later you could try for department manager or assistant supervisor or asst. manager. Their are online certificates that give you the opportunity to go into the medical field if you are a High School graduate . You could take the course at a junior college online or at the campus and be ready to join working with clinics that help the indigent, scheduling appointments and working with pediatrics. Have the faith, the opportunities are endless. Goodluck to you.

Senior Program Director at The Collective Group A Dmg Events

Hi Cindy. There are several companies that are not-for-profits based in Dallas that support teachers and education in an urban area that are looking for employees that have experience in education to act as project managers or liaisons to teachers in their programs. Your experience as a teacher would be very welcome. You might start your search criteria there as it opens up new opportunities for your career but also builds on your previous experience. Also, check out TNTP. They help schools, districts and states grow and hold on to great teachers and build systems that prioritize effective teaching in every classroom. They are based in NYC but have remote positions in Dallas as well. Open jobs for them are posted on the job board at www.themuse.com. Also, are you on LinkedIn, if not, you really should be as it is a great networking tool.

Hi Cindy:

Thanks for posting to Jobcase!

We can definitely help you get started on your job search. Since you have such a great history working with kids, would you be open to a job that involved them? Or are you looking to get away from careers that deal with children?

I recommend double-clicking on the Jobs button, entering the type of job you want, and clicking on the blue search button. You'll be taken to a page where you'll see a list of employers who are hiring in your area. To apply, just click on the job title and follow the instructions.

Best of luck!
