Flabbergasted!
I have been interviewed by the same organization THREE times and each time I have been denied because my "interview score" was not high enough. This is an organization that deals with addicts. I was an addict for over 25 years and I have been clean for 11 years. In that time, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Services & Counseling with a 3.88 G.P.A. I know all the lies, manipulations, and fake tales of needing money to help pay bills only to use that money to support my habit. I say to h### with an interview score and hire me for my experiences as an addict!!!! I am 63 years old with no mental incapacities, which leads me to believe my age is playing a factor in the hiring process but, I have no way proving that. I am considering leaving my home state(KY) and seek employment elsewhere. Any thoughts?

I truly feel your pain. Same situation, but different company and state. I am 57, newly educated degree, tons of valuable lifetime experience, and I have interviewed 4 times, feeling that each time was better than the last, at ALLSTATE, only to be told that I did not SCORE highly enough to be considered!!! I have had enough of that!!! Their loss!!!

Congratulations on your accomplishments good luck to u

No matter what happens, I'm proud of you for your accomplishments.

I'm 54 and going through the same thing but I'm in the most fucked up state of all 51 California. I'm seriously thinking of putting my parrot on my shoulder get in the car and driving off into the sunset and seeing were I end up. Figure it's gotta be better r Then we're I'm at now.

I thought that's what a company like that does is hire someone who has been down that road. What a shame. Are there any other facilities like that in your area or stae

I’m in the same field and have 32 years sobriety. I don’t go into the gritty details on an interview and don’t tell any war stories. Maybe you’re going in too “gritty.”

Did you ever ask them WHY you failed to pass? Did they know of your past addiction? Sounds like you are more than qualified to counsel others on their addiction. It might be that this agency's criteria for certification is pretty stringent due to legal concerns. Be that as it may, you might be better of seeking employment with another such agency elsewhere, even if it entails a move. Good luck to you and congratulations on having conquered your addiction!

Since they keep interviewing you, ask -- i.e. -- 'I have been interviewed three times, have substantive experience and a high GPA in my related academic background. So out of curiosity -- is age a factor here?' What do you have to lose?
