Applying for a job at DFPS...how long does the process take?

I have applied for several jobs at the Department of Family Protective Services. Each time I seem to advance a step forward in the long, long, looong application process. The last time I reached "step 5" and took the Spanish proficiency tests (written & oral) and STILL waiting. I keep calling HR, they say keep checking back, its been almost 4 months!!! HOW LONG DOES THIS TAKE???

It probably takes a while because there is som much red tape and a lot of needed clearance. Research parent partners. If you have a degree try social services. Com. Also look into wraparound specialist.

Social services. Com, one of your questions shouldve been how long till the test comes back if you didn't. Since HR is giving you the run around, why not ask one of the bilingual workers? I know one of them might not desire to answer just in case the results dont come back when stated and you get upset. However, it doesn't hurt to ask. There's always more than one to do things!

They are probably going down a list. It may even have been made before you applied! You just wait. Anyone who has a relative who wants the position may be called before you!

Government jobs can take a ridiculously long time to land, but once you get one, you're basically in for as long as you want to be in for. Good benefits too. If you're set on this job, maybe get something temporary while you wait it out so you can make some income while the process continues. Good luck.
