job seeker

hello everyone , i am barley getting out of high school. So i really do not know the rights for all applicants. Iv been trying to look for a job for the past three months so far not a single one has sent me a message. The last time i appealed for a job was for a warehouse job for Amazon. I did not get the job because i was positive for Medical marijuana on my pre employment drug test. I tried calling the medical review office to reverse the decision. I was sent to a voice mail monitor leaving my name ,number, and the reason why i called. this was last week i tried calling a couple of times this week but i did not get a response back. I also tried applying for other jobs but most jobs require you to take drug test. The thing is i am patient for using cannabis. I have a recommendation letter addressing that i can use Mmj for health reasons. i was wondering if this situation was some type of discrimination, and also will i be able to pass a drug test with a letter of recommendation of using Medical marijuana ? what are my options at this point ?

Understand little lady... Life does what it does to get you by... I also have a prescription, I'm 43, I'm seeking employment... Take the hurtles, your recommendation doesn't mean anything, that's why they give it to us... We'll never get all rights, there's always something for everyone... It's coming, be patient.

You have to inform your employer before being tested and also present the letter when you inform them. Firstly never tell them over the phone once you get the go head to get tested then you say something with you info at hand. Then if you do get the job u can consider it being discrimination.

Maybe explain your situation and beliefs ahead of time. You should interview before drug screening. Whether it be for religious, medical,or etc. You should show that you are responsible with it. Know what it is and what it can do. Showing that you are knowledgeable and qualified may change their perspective. Tell them, pass the drug test, perform well on the job. But you should... PASS THE DRUG TEST!!!

So even if you have a prescription for marijuana and fail a drug test which you will your prescription for it doesn't help I guess the staying age they don't have to give anybody a job for any reason whatsoever

I'm almost exactly in the same position as you even the amazon job but the reality is that people here are too afraid to take risks of hiring people. I doubt it's discrimination because i'm pretty sure that on every application if you have crime convictions or you're someone dealing with drugs it doesn't automatically disqualify you from a job. If you never had a job then apply to places where they're desperate for help and should you get the interview you want to be convincing and sell yourself. As long as you prove to be a hard worker and you're convincing to a manager there's not a doubt they should be thinking about giving you a shot. I guarantee that if you get one job and hold it for a loooooong time and other managers know your history with your mmj jobs will then keep flowing in for you.
