I have applied on several job sites for employment, it seems as though once they the year you graduated , your resume gets thrown in the garbage, why can't older people find employment, we have the experience.

I'm 38 and I feel the same way about trying to get a job. And the only thing I can think of is the fact that these employers don't want to pay us what we're worth. They'd rather hire an 18-24 year old with little or no experience so they can pay them $8.00 an hour. Where I would tell them I'm way more valuable than $8.00. Thanks but no thanks.

If you're applying online for these jobs (which most are these days), it could be that you don't have the right key words in your resume. They have these systems that look for specific words in them before HR even sees them to help narrow it down. Also, you don't have to include the year you graduated from any school, but just that you did graduate. That may help you get seen more!
